A Wonderful Gift from Kylie

During last Christmas, our dear friend Kylie hosted a really great contest. We found out that Addie won late in January and Addie received a gift the first week in February. For our friends that follow us, that was around the time when I lost my Zoe. I took all of the pictures of Addie with her gift and completely forgot to post them. We hope that Kylie can forgive us.

Help for Friends in Need

Our 200th post received 100 comments!
Because this is a very good cause, we went well over the 1 pound per comment donation.

We wanted to have the girls with us when the donation was made to the Tarrant Food Bank, but their  hours are odd and only during the week, so we will have to make the donation during lunch time from work next week.

Can you find Lucie?

There she is. Now how do I get this trunk closed!

We would like to thank everyone that visited us on our special day. From the 100 posts, we pulled 10 lucky winners by using Random.org. And the winners are...
We have a little treat that we would like to share with our winners. Please email us your mailing address and your treat will be sent this week.

Lastly, here are some pugs that need help.

First up is Pixie the Pug. She is terribly under weight and is fighting to get healthy. Our friend Clover did a post about her and we just had to help. If you have not visited Pixie yet please go check out her story and share the love.

Next are Penelope and Petunia. These two pugs are very ill and need our support. Our new friends at Purs n' Snorts did a post about them and we could not pass them by. Check out the Purs n' Snorts post for a cool contest that they are running in conjunction with making a donation. You can get all of the details on Penelope and Petunia at Kentuckiana Pug Rescue.

Lucie Graduates from Puppy Class

Lucie with her Dad and her trainer Christina from Family Pet Care
This was a wonderful puppy class that I would recommend to everyone with a puppy. They have a new class starting next week, so if you are in the Fort Worth area and you have a puppy you should check them out.

Lucie shows off what she has learned.

Lucie interrupts class for the last time.

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

When will the rain stop in Texas. Certainly not soon enough for our pups! Addie went to daycare on Thursday even though it was raining. Her friend Aggie the Shar Pei was there so they played all day long in the dog park. I was told that Addie was covered in mud! They sure did have a good time. She even received a bath before I picked her up.

Today was a different story. Addie and Lucie spent all day in the house except for short potty breaks because the rain just will not stop. When I took them outside after I got home from work, they let out all of their energy.

A Year Ago Today...

our K-8 left us.

And our lives were never the same.

K-8 was born in Pine Mountain, Georgia. Her Mom was an American Bulldog and her Dad was a purebred Border Collie. When we first met K-8 she was only a few weeks old. K-8's Mom came over to us and nudged my hand for me to pet her. K-8 inherited that same loving trait. K-8 was a Canine Good Citizen and therapy dog with Therapy Dogs International, Inc. She was loved by everyone that met her.

On February 23, 2008 K-8 was diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia. This basically means that her immune system was attacking itself and that she was bleeding internally. A short time later, she developed Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. This was worse that the Thrombocytopenia. The only warning signs that we had were a few red spots on her gums and a slight loss of appetite.

Even though we had the best Vet and medications, K-8 left us after a brutal two and a half weeks after she was diagnosed. This is in memory of my dear K-8, that I miss every day.

Our 200th Post!

It all started with furbaby Addie. I wanted an easy way to share pictures and adventures with our family and friends in Pennsylvania. My husband suggested that I start a blog. I had never had a blog before and once I joined DWB's I was addicted.

A lot has happened since my first post in May of 2008. Through the good times and the bad, I am very happy that I found DWB's. The friendships and support that I have found through this blog mean more than words can say.

To celebrate this momentous occasion,
Addie and Lucie are going to donate 1 pound of pet food/treats to the Tarrant Area Food Bank for each unique user comment posted on this blog entry.

No one should go hungry during these difficult economic times. The Tarrant Area Food Bank is collecting pet food donations to aid families so that they don't have to give up their family pet. We want to help by keeping every member of the family fed. Our goal is to donate 200 lbs. Post your comment today and help a pet in need!

As an added bonus, each comment that is posted will be eligible to win special prizes in honor of our 200th post! Each comment will be assigned a number based on its placement in the list and random.org will be used to pull the winners.

Thank you readers!
Stay tuned for more wild and crazy adventures from Addie and Lucie!

We saw Mona's Mom!

Mona's mom, Sarah was in Arlington for a her godchild's bridal shower so we stopped over to meet her! Addie and Lucie had a really good time. They were very well behaved and gave her lots of kisses. We didn't have a good spot that was pet friendly to meet in so we just visited at our Blazer. We were sad that Mona couldn't come on the trip with her, so we gave her a goody bag to take back to Mona to let her know that we were thinking of her. I was taking pictures with my camera and Sarah's camera. She will post her pictures when they get back home. I took a lot of sweet pictures on her camera and I can't wait to see them. I do have a few pictures to share. It was really neat meeting Sarah and we can't wait until we can meet again and see Mona!
