Big Girl Crate

Last Sunday I purchased Addie's new crate. It took her only a matter of months to out grow the medium sized crate. I have discovered that this new crate works wonders on dogs and husbands, separately or at the same time!

Where has our puppy gone?

I don't know where the time has gone. Too quickly Addie has lost nearly all of her puppy fur, weights in at 40 pounds and moved from adorable puppy to bitey toddler. One of my favorite characteristics of Addie since the day she arrived was her beautiful long white eyebrow lashes. And even those are falling out now.

Since day one, Addie has had some mighty big shoes to fill. Although, I know she will never be the same dog as our K-8, it is hard not to compare them. Well, it's really not that hard. K-8 was never bitey and Addie is. Our vet gave us a new tip that he found called "close your mouth." I am working on that with Addie, but giving her some slack right now since she is still full of stitches.

Since Addie arrived in April, Ron and I have made her the center of our lives. We read books, talked to our vet and tried everything to make sure we didn't do anything wrong, but here we are with a bitey Addie. It looks like her big teeth are all in now, so we can't use that reason any longer. We will keep trying until she realizes that she has the best family and dog friendly household in the whole wide world. K-8 knew it. Zoe, well, we love Zoe!

A Trip to the Vet

Addie was spayed on Thursday. Dr. Johnson at Family Pet Care did an amazing job. He knows what a handful she is, so he triple stitched her so she doesn't pull anything out by accident and hurt herself. Sheila, Kathy, Melissa, Stephanie and all of the staff at Family Pet Care went out of their way to make it a good experience for Addie, and her nervous parents! Addie truly was a pitiful sight with her collar on. I couldn't bring myself to take a picture of her with it on. Thursday night was a long night, Addie was fussy most of the night wanting to lick most of the time. She had a hard time getting comfortable. By Friday afternoon she was back to her old self, minus the crazy puppy running which has been halted until she is healed. She will have the stitches in for 10 to 14 days. Then it will be back to full speed puppy power!

Just for Fun

Let me begin by saying, "I'm not crazy." I just enjoy photographing my dogs and making it fun. And they really do LOVE the camera! I came across some fun vacation themed pet supplies at Target the other day and just couldn't pass up some of the items.

I admit that the beret really didn't work on Zoe, but I thought the picture was cute anyway. I really like the picture of Addie in the Café and Zoe snacking on her squeaky croissants. Then, I started thinking about my video camera and thought I would capture the moment in motion. And that is how I ended up with a cheesy video of the dogs in a Paris Café!

Addie is Featured on Seemypetcam.com!

I found a web site called Seemypetcam.com by accident one day. It is sponsored by Panasonic. They have a web cam and created this cool pet video site to go along with it. I posted Addie's "Bonk" video on the site and they contacted me asking if she could be their spotlight pet in their e-newsletter for July. The newsletter came out today. Addie is now famous! Well, with all of the subscribers to that site anyway. How fun is that!!!

Addie with Ron's New Toy

A Long Night

Last night was the first night ever that Addie was fussy. All she wanted to do was run around and bite. I put her in her crate for a time out, which did nothing. I put her in her room and she barked. I took her out with me and she was bitey. She has two baby molars that have been loose for two days now. At 2 a.m. she was chewing on a throw rug, pulling at the fibers and like dental floss pulled one of the molars right out! It flew through the air like a little missile. I believe I was more surprised than she was. I gently removed the fibers from her mouth and immediately removed the rug from her fearful that more teeth would come flying out. I could see the new molar already showing where the baby one had just fallen out! It must be so unpleasant. I can't image the discomfort she is experiencing. I did give her a frozen Chilly Bone which kept her occupied for about 10 minutes after the tooth came out. One more to go now. Hopefully, we will all sleep good tonight!

39 Pounds

Addie visited her friends at Family Pet Care this morning. While we were there, I weighed Addie and she is at 39 pounds! I wonder how big she will be when she is all grown up. The larger breed dogs keep growing until they are about 2 years old. That's A LOT of growing!

Zoe Strikes Again

Last night, Zoe and I were in the kitchen when all of a sudden Addie barked at Zoe and started running. Lap after lap around the house, each time she came through the kitchen she would bark at Zoe. Zoe kept looking at me with this funny expression and I knew she was just wondering what in the world Addie was doing. Finally, after the 7th or 8th lap, Addie had bumped into Zoe one too many times and all I heard was "YIPE, YIPE, YIPE." Immediately, Addie sat down in the kitchen. I looked over at Zoe and she had this massive patch of Addie fur in her mouth. At 14 years old, Zoe can only take so much of the crazy puppy running!

Ears

Ever since we got Addie I have been able to see her growth easily by looking at her ears. I know it sounds crazy, but it is an easy way for me to see when she is going through a growth spurt. When we first got Addie she had what I call "big floppy" ears or Border Collie looking ears. A few days later they folded and went into "tiny folded" ear mode or Great Pyrenees looking ears. What is the cutest is when one ear has not caught up with the other ear and one is big and floppy and the other is tiny and folded. LOL

No More Fangs

The last fang fell out yesterday and boy oh boy are those new teeth coming in quick! We are looking forward to a decrease in the nipping. At least the razors are gone now. After a long day of playing, Addie is taking a nap in her favorite spot which she stole from Zoe, our Dachshund.

Cute Pix

Fangs

We have been waiting for the razor sharp fangs to fall out and within a two day span 3 have fallen out. There is only one left that can hurt us now!

I took some 4th of July pix. Addie's first holiday photo shoot. I found this really cool slideshow program but needed some more pix so I added various cute pix of Addie growing up and Zoe. This is best view in full screen. Enjoy!
