Lucie
It did not take long for this little girl to fit right in. After her bath, Lucie was introduced to Addie. The second that Addie saw Lucie she started wagging her tail and has not stopped since! These two were made for each other.
Addie was very excited about Lucie's arrival. At times, Addie would get too excited so we would separate them so Addie could calm down. At one point last night, we had all of the dogs out side and Addie started to get too excited, so we put her in the house. Well, Addie was not pleased about that. She started to jump and paw at the door. When we went to enter the house, we found that Addie had locked us out! Luckily, we have a keypad to open our garage door so we were able to get back in the house. The funny thing is, about 10 years ago Zoe had locked us out of our townhouse. We were not as lucky that time and had to call a locksmith to let us in.
This morning we took Lucie to Family Pet Care to make sure that she was in good health. Our wonderful Vet, Dr. Johnson, said that she looked good. We are very glad that she is healthy.
Addie shared her toys and showed Lucie how to de-stuff a toy properly. She also showed Lucie the best way to dig a hole, which included showering Lucie with dirt. They spent the morning playing outside.
And Zoe, she was a very good sport about Lucie. She basically gave Lucie a look that implied, stay out of my way and then moved along.(The picture below is not a sample of that look, but I love this picture that I took today.)
Lucie's first night left us all sleepless. We are going to try a different approach tonight. We need sleep. We will have the live cam running more often soon once we get her routine down. Right now, we can relax a bit knowing that she is here and healthy.
How great. I am so happy you are getting along. So adorable. What great pictures of you having fun.

I came along here by way of Khyra...I am curious! I met my first Pyr not long ago...and know Border Collies from a friend who does rescue...is the combining of the two breeds intentional? I am wondering if the combo brings out the best in both breeds, which is especially good for the Alpaca work. Just curious!
ReplyDeleteThe new baby is adorable! Woo!

ReplyDeleteAre the BC and GP bred together for a specific purpose? (herding, agility, etc...) Or just a chance breeding that turned out some gorgeous pups?

Sweet Addie,
ReplyDeleteThis is probably one of the best posts that I've read in the blogosphere. Those photos are so great that I have no barks to explain how much I like them! Lucie is sooooooooo absolutely cute... And Addie looks so happy, I'm sure she feels so fortunate! I would feel delirious too, if I had a baby sister to play.
Congratulations, Ad... you have great hooomans.

Hello Friends!
ReplyDeleteMaddox & Shelby had inquired about the mix breed if it was intentional. The litter that Lucie came from no. This was not an intentional litter. Both parents are working dogs on an alpaca farm, but as far as I know the litter was a mistake and they have been selling the puppies just to get them homes. Not looking for farms in particular.
That is an interesting point though if this mix breed would make a good farm dog. I'll have to take a look and do some research. But our pups will not be working dogs.
We are working on training so that Addie can be a Therapy Dog. We will also do the same for Lucie. Maybe some agility. We are not as fortunate to have sheep training around like our other border collie friends. They will just have to continue herding Zoe. LOL
Thank you!
Staci (Addie's mom)
She is soo cute!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a tiny puppy to play with! Mum is making funny people noises about how cute Lucie is.
