It's down to the wire now. Only one week remaining. Our supporters are critical to us right now. We have all been sacraficing treats and exercising our hearts out. Who will be the biggest loser? Who will be our winning supporter?
TIP OF THE WEEK
Find your local food bank and donate a bag of pet food.
We have all been focusing on what we have been eating for many weeks now. Let's take a moment to look at our community around us and think of those pups and cats out there that may be struggling in the current economy. For us the Tarrant County Area Food Bank is there to help families AND their pets in times of need. When many people think of a food bank they only think about people needing food, but so do their pets! During summer food banks are in extra need of food for pets so please if you can spare it share some food with those in need. Lucie's ad has attracted a lot of attention and has helped get pet food donations! We are so very proud of our beautiful little girl.
If you are a DFW resident, be sure to check out the Tarrant Area Food Bank's pet food initiative and help out pets in need! This food bank supports 13 counties in our area so visit them today!
Aw Lucie, you look so sweet in that ad. And it's such a great idea to remind people to donate to pets, too - we've been reading in our local paper that there are more pets than ever being given up these days because people can't afford to keep them. Good luck with losing weight - remember, it's not about giving up treats, it's about good health and living longer. You can do it - woo hoo!

We did something new this year. Momma has been tracking the cost of everything that she buys for us (kibble, toys, treats, accessories etc), and she matches that amount as a quarterly donation to a rescue org.

Yes please donate to your local shelter sna rescues - our mommy runs a rescue and is jeopardy of having to shutdown cause she gets no donations and cant pay for everything anymore.

WE know that if we see that poster with sweet Lucie on it, we would not be able to resist. But then again, we have never been able to resist any pet food banks. We're sorry we live too far away to contribute to yours.

Lucie - you sure are a beautiful poster girl. We don't seem to have EECU banks around here that are taking bags of food, but there are many rescue organizations that could use the help. I'm going to Pet Express today and help mom choose a good bag of food and bring it to our pal, Sue for Norcal Golden Retriever rescue. They could use a hand. Thanks for your great post!

So sorry about being MIA, my computer is still not working, but I am still working hard at my diet. =) went swimming again today and watching what I eat, a lot of carrots with my meals and as treats, today I even tried a red pepper!!

ReplyDeleteLove the pic of Lucie on that poster. Once when Mommy volunteered to pack boxes at the food bank they got lots of dry dog food from folks, but made them throw them all out because it was during the dog food scare. Mommy cried becuase there was so much and it all went to waste
