A Sad Day... Goodbye Sweet Dakota and Kai

Our thoughts and prayers are with the OP pack.
Please stop by their blog and show them some love.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the the Zoo Crew Danes (and Dachshunds too).
Please stop by their blog and show them some love.

Heaven's Doggy Door

My best friend closed his eyes last night,
As his head was in my hand.
The doctors said he was in pain,
And it was hard for him to stand.

The thought that scurried through my head,
As I cradled him in my arms.
Were of his younger, puppy years,
And Oh...his many charms.

Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze,"
Only a heart that's filled with tears
Remembering our joy-filled days.

But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, You should cry no more,
God also loves our canine friends,
He's installed a doggy -door!

Thanks for posting otherwise I wouldn't have known. I'll head over. What a difficult decision.

PS- it's been 60 and rain for 7 days- are you sure you want to trade weather?

We are so sad over this. Dakota was the most beautiful girl and we loved staring into her beautiful blue eyes. What a nice poem you chose for her and her family. :)

So many beautiful tributes to our princess - thank you so much for this. The poem is lovely. Mom is going to add it to our post if you don't mind. It so perfectly sums up what she is feeling.

Thank you so much for thinking enough of Kai to post about his passing. I miss him terribly but try so hard to take comfort in knowing he was ready to finally be at peace. Losing a "heart dog" is one of the hardest things I've been through......

Thanks again,

Shannon, mom to Kai and the rest of the zoo crew

It's been a real sad time lately around DWB, that's for sure. We're doubly sad over here since losing my catsister Beauty. Things can only get better.

That was a beautiful tribute you posted for the Dakota and Kaiser.
