Lucie you are wearing me OUT!

I just sat down to do Addie's nails. Placed some of this Kwik Stop gel on a paper towel, if I squeeze it from the bottle as needed I always end up with a puddle of it on their paws. Lucie came along, I could not get her to leave the room willingly and the split second that I took my eyes off her LICK!! She licked up about a quarter teaspoon of this stuff.

She immediately didn't like it and started spitting it out. I took a clean paper towel and wiped out as much as I could. Then the foaming started. Time to call Animal Poison Control again. It took longer for them to answer the call this time, but they were very helpful and stated that Lucie should be just fine. She may experience vomiting and/or diarrhea. The foaming did not last for long, but then she started drooling big time. Within half an hour the drooling stopped. They told me to give her some ice cream to rinse the taste of the gel out of her mouth. As you can imagine, Lucie was fine with that. We couldn't only give ice cream to Lucie so Addie and Hailey joined in too.

I am perplexed at the level of trouble that Lucie is getting into. Lucie is doing things that I would never had thought that she would have done. It has been an hour since the incident and Lucie is playing with Hailey like nothing ever happened. We had to pay the $60 fee for the Vet consultation this time which I gladly paid. She is worrying me to death. I have to re-evaluate absolutely everything that I do around her to ensure she will not get herself into trouble. But she is worth all of the worry to me.

The more things that happen the more I am reminded of a Simpson's episode where Homer gets Marge a Koi pond and they find that a very rare screamapillar has taken up residency there.

The screamapillar is very high maintenance and the Simpson's are provided with a guide on how to care for it.

Tips
  • It needs constant reassurance or it will die.
  • It is sexually attracted to fire.

We don't watch the Simpson's any more but this episode stuck in my head. Thankfully Lucie is not this high maintenance.

UPDATE
Lucie had a fine night no problems at all.
Our dear friend Dina left a comment that made us laugh:
I am so very glad Lucie is OK...
What a nightmare, Lucie is still very very young....
Adolescence, mischievousness.....

You could rename Lucie while she is still a puppy, Lucifer...lol
Keep smiling...:-)
It reminded me of how we came to Lucie's name.

We LOVED to watch Dr. Katz.

So when the cast from Dr. Katz created a new show we had to take a look. The new show was called Lucy, daughter of the devil. It did not last long because it was not good, but we loved the cast so much that we gave it a chance in the beginning.

 Here is Lucy's character story:
The Antichrist, born of the devil and an unnamed woman in exchange for a Datsun 280 ZX. She has graduated art school, but is on no fixed career path, instead helping her father out in his ventures to conquer the world and taking a more-or-less permanent position as a bartender at his restaurant, Tequila Sally's, in the meanwhile.

The name Lucy was something both my husband and I could agree on so wanting to be a little different we used different spelling and named her Lucie.

Lucy, in the show has a dog that was given to her by her dad to protect her. You look at these and think what a sweet dog!

But the truth is this sweet dog will protect Lucy to the death by hypnotizing her prey before the kills them. This was NOT a good show, too bloody, gross and basically just down right wrong in some cases, but the show did have it's funny moments although few and far between.

Here is the scary Lucy ready to attack.

Certainly, our Lucie will not go down this path. We need to start her training FAST!!!

  3. Oh dear! Poor Lucie, and poor you!

Could it be that as she grows, the border collie in her is taking over and she is just bored and desperately looking for a job. Any job?

  7. Silly Lucie! Stella, the other dog in my house is almost 6 and she still is always eating everything she shouldn't. We've given her the nickname Ol' Cast Iron Stomach Stella because none of it ever seems to bother her.

  12. It sounds like Lucie is right in the middle of her adolescent period. The best thing to do is remain calm, be consistent with all the house rules you've taught her, and stick it out. It passes!
You might want to teach her leave it/drop it if you haven't already. That way you can start employing those when she's up to no good!
