A Beautiful Day

After the week we had, today was wonderful. Lucie's MRI day on Nov 8 was the hardest day. VSNT allowed us in to review it showing us the cancer area along with her birth defect which was amazing to see in its actual size and state.

Since surgery is not an option, 4 sessions of radiation over 4 weeks was recommended but they couldn't get her in until the 18th. I worry how she will be having to wait so long. Pain meds were also recommended. Due to her sensitivity, we added amantadine first which she is tolerating well and then Tramadol will come next. It took Lucie a good 2.5 days to recover from the MRI. I'm still in shock that she was able to handle it. This gives us hope that she will tolerate radiation as well.

These last weeks have been awful. Almost hour by hour I re-examine, is this her time. But looking at her sitting in the yard with the girls tells me all I need to know.

Notes by Date

Nov 9 - Lucie was groggy, back legs shaky, Dr. Johnston said to start first pain med on Nov 11 as it will take her system some time to get back to normal and we don't want to confuse any med reaction with coming down off of the anesthesia.

Nov 10 - Lucie was not as groggy but still shaky when walking.

Nov 11 - Lucie started Amantadine

Nov 12/13 - Added the back end part of the Help Em' Up Harness for extra support when walking. This worked very well.
