We were instructed to take the bandage off after 24 hours. They had placed two long lidocaine patches on either side of the incision. She's looking great!
Today was much better. She was calm and didn't seem to be in a ton of pain. Eating great, no upset tummy or guts and she learned to walk on three legs quicker that I had thought. I use her harness with a short leash that I made for potty breaks which works great. I had no idea how Addie, such a big dog, would be able to potty without the use of one of her back legs but she did it. Her strength never ceases to amaze me. Ice 2-4 times a day for the first 48 hours as recommended by the surgeon. We are finally on our way to healing!
Wondering how Hailey and Lucie are dealing with this? This has turned their world upside down too. Lucie is afraid of Addie with her cone on. Hailey, our little nurse, has been worried about Addie. Complete confinement for Addie may be difficult on her but will be hard on the girls too as Addie is their leader. I will be strictly following our surgeons orders to give Addie the best chance at healing possible.
Mom and I are sending you TONS of healing vibes and AireZen, Addie! We hope you are feeling better SOON!
