Texas Weather and Santa Paws

It was 75 degrees outside on Sunday. But never fear... as the saying goes in Texas, if you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes. NO KIDDING!

... ABRUPT WIND SHIFT TO THE NORTH AND MUCH COLDER AIR MOVING INTO NORTH TEXAS...
AN ARCTIC FRONT IS MOVING INTO NORTH TEXAS THIS EVENING WITH MUCH COLDER AIR FILTERING INTO THE REGION. EXPECT AN ABRUPT WIND SHIFT TO THE NORTH AND WIND SPEEDS INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 MPH WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS TO 45 MPH BEHIND THE FRONT. THE GUSTY WINDS WILL DIMINISH LATER TONIGHT. IN ADDITION TO THE GUSTY WINDS... TEMPERATURES WILL PLUMMET AS MUCH AS 30 DEGREES IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME DIRECTLY BEHIND THE FRONT. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE 30S ACROSS THE NORTHERN HALF OF NORTH TEXAS BY MIDNIGHT.

Wait 5 more minutes and this is what you get... ok, so it was longer than 5 minutes but you get the picture.

... WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 AM CST TUESDAY...
AS THE ARCTIC AIRMASS DEEPENS AND TEMPERATURES CONTINUE FALLING TONIGHT... PATCHY... LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WILL OCCUR... OCCASIONALLY MIXING WITH OR CHANGING TO LIGHT SLEET. ACCUMULATIONS OF ICE AND SLEET ARE EXPECTED TO BE LESS THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF WINTER PRECIPITATION MAY CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. PRECIPITATION WILL ACCUMULATE FIRST ON ELEVATED SURFACES SUCH AS BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES. THESE WILL BECOME SLICK AND HAZARDOUS. BE PREPARED TO SLOW DOWN AND USE EXTRA CAUTION... AS TRAVEL DELAYS MAY OCCUR.

The beautiful weather allowed us to go to Santa Paws in the Park on Sunday. The event was not as large as I thought it would be. Our wonderful friend Tasha and her Rhodesian Ridgeback Nylah met us there for some play time and a visit with Santa.

In my mind for the Santa Paws pictures I thought there would be a back drop, a nice chair, maybe a Christmas tree and a real Santa suit.

I swear Addie was thinking... who is this guy and what is with his outfit!

Please stop choking me Santa. I've been a good girl!

We have another location to have Addie's picture taken with Santa.
Stay tuned for Addie's official Santa Paws visit this Friday!

  2. That arctic front has got us too. However, since we are much closer to the arctic, it has been very cold here for a couple of days now. Tonight our temperature is sitting at about -30 degrees celcius ( or about-20 degrees F.) Burrr!
Hopefully the arctic front will not affect you too much. Keep warm and safe!

  3. Poor Nylah being choked by Santa Paws! Maybe he just wasn't paying attention. The caption made my Mom laugh. Neat that you got to see him at least! And very cool that you have a Ridgeback friend like me. ;) Our names are even similar.

    Kisses,
    Nala

  5. Love the 'santa' pictures! LOL

Thanks for the update on the weather. LOL I am heading down to Austin this week. I was looking forward to mild and warm - a nice change from the frigid single digits we have been having here. *sigh*

I hope it warms up soon!

  13. Oh Addie, I think you were right to be a little suspicious of that Santa. No North Pole backdrop? No Santa chair? Not even white gloves? Hmm...

    Later!

  14. That's not Santa! Where's his Reindogs and sled? They say the same thing about the weather here in Indiana too. You just never know what it might be.

  18. This Texas weather drives my Old Girl crazy! Sorry we didn't make it out on Sunday--the pictures are so cute! My Mr. Jason and Old Girl stayed in and played something called Scrabble instead, and I spent my time trying to steal their eggnog. heehee

  19. I love the pictures, Addie, but somehow Santa near a chain-link fence and no snow, a person in shorts - I dunno. It doesn't look like Christmas to me. You should be here where there's lots of snow everywhere and everyone's all bundled up and freezing!! Second thought - I like your weather better. I hope you get all the presents you asked Santa for.
Can't wait to see your new pictures.

    Poor Nylah! Hope she's ok.

  20. Simon just learned about sleet last night! It was so pleasant for the rest of us!

Hang in there - it's sure to change soon! (We had the A/C up on Sunday!)

  21. We say that about Oregon. the weather changes here pretty fast also.
That Santa could take a lesson from your mom on setting up a set for the pictures. He must have been one of the lesser of Santa's assistants.
We always get a kick out of watching you run at the dog park. That is a nice new friend you have. Happy to see that two of your other friends found homes. We are so lucky to have such good homes ourselves.
