Tip of the Week

Help your dog lose weight: Eliminate table food and doggy bags

It’s hard to look into the pleading eyes of a canine and not be tempted to give him a nibble of table food. But those little nibbles add up to significant calories which can pack unhealthy pounds onto your pet. The high fat content of some table food can also increase your dog’s risk of pancreatitis which can be fatal. If you must give your dog a human food treat, give him a bite of fresh fruit. Ask your vet what fruits you can give your overweight pet. Certain fruits such as grapes can be toxic to canines.

I think you're all doing a great job! Mom says that sometimes, after losing weight, one might gain a little back because of the muscles are getting toned from all the exercises and not eating a lot...hope that the weight continues to drop to your ideal weights! *grins* Go participants!!

Super cool that you are hosting a little diet program for our kiddos. Africa doesn't get any table scraps but I fear when my son is old enough to start eating from his high chair he will be throwing food down at her. Any ideas to prevent future begging when this happens? It will probably be impossible to avoid eh?

we think you kiddos are trying very hard and doing a great job. it's not easy! you have to keep at it. we know you can all become sleek and sassy!

Baxter is going to the vet tomorrow to get checked out to see if he can go on a diet and how to do it. mom thinks he is too pudgy and he pants so hard when playing at the dog park that she worries about him. we'll let you know how he does.

woofs.

Hi girls!
I would like to share some encouragement to all of you participating. It can't be easy to lose weight (especially if it involves fewer treats) - so a big hand to all of you! Keep up the good work!

Perseverance WILL eventually pay dividend's...Keep it up....

On your tip of the week:
It is even harder to stop treats all together due to health reasons...
Pups do not understand why they can not have what they are used too......:-/
Don't we humans call snacking comfort eating?....lol
