Training Addie: Session #8

We worked at the dog park today. For only the third training session spent at the dog park, I am very proud of Addie's progress. Matt worked with Addie on heeling, sit, down, stay and come. Distractions were all around, but mainly they were in the form of Lucie and a new admirer.

From the second that this little dog entered the dog park he fell in love with Addie!

Heeling with Addie's little admirer.

Lots of praise.

We are going to work what she is learning more into her everyday life inside and outside of our home to reinforce it all. Right now Addie is in a down, stay at my feet. She has been there for about 25 minutes now and she is doing great even with a Hailey jumping on her head!

  6. Good job Addie, it is hard to be good when other doggies are around, I think. I wish we had a dog park by us, that looks like fun.

  8. It looks like Addie is doing great with her training. What a great distraction!!

The river we were at was unfortunately pretty far from DFW - it's the Guadalupe just north of New Braunfels and about a 4 hour drive. There's a great book called 60 Hikes within 60 miles of DFW (or something similar to that) that we're trying out that has some great spots with places to swim. So far Lake Grapevine has been the best spot (not gross) where the dogs could swim, but we also did a great hike on Lake Worth (they have a great nature preserve) that might have some good swimming spots. It was pretty flooded when we were there so we didn't get a good idea of how it was normally.

Happy water hunting - keep us posted on great spots! We are always looking for good swimming places!
