This, That and the Other

Where does the time go... for me, I had dental surgery so the previous two weeks has been an unpleasant blur, but I am finally getting back on track and mailed our Christmas cards last Friday. I will follow up with the email cards soon. I didn't have the strength to build a set this year, but I believe it turned out cute. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Lucie has been on her new meds for almost 3 weeks now. She does not want to eat her Royal Canin dog food any longer, or any type of dog food dry or canned so on the advice of our Vet we have moved temporarily to low fat ground meat and rice just so she will eat. She has been getting more finicky over the last week. If she can smell the pill that she is getting at all she will not take it. I am waiting on a call back from our specialist to see where to go from here.  There are times of the day where she is very growly and unhappy so we are wondering if she is having a side effect from the antibiotic.

Basically, she not much better, but not worse either. Later in this post I have a video of them running in the snow. You can see the energy level difference between Addie and Lucie. I feel like she is on hold right now and hope that the specialist can shed some light on how to get her better, faster. I can still see that she has trouble sometimes getting up with her back legs. We have put training on hold for now since she hurts too much afterward. Hailey continues to stick by Lucie's side. I really don't know what these two would ever do without each other!

Addie is also concerned about her sister. She knows something just isn't right.

Several weeks ago we purchased a new ball for Lucie. It was an instant hit!

Addie liked it too, but Lucie claimed it as her own.

My husband and I also found a new hobby involving our new FJ Cruiser.
4 Wheeling

We took our first trip to an OHV park in Bridgeport Texas. I had never done anything like that before. We did some more difficult trails than I had expected but it was crazy fun and a great adrenaline rush!

One of Ron's friends showed us some of the trails. We drove through a lake where the water came up over the front of the hood of our vehicle, up level three "hills" and soaked our FJ in mud! His off roading truck is below.

The First Snow of the Year
The Fort Worth area does not see much snow at all, so when I see it snowing I immediately get the dogs and head out side. This snowfall lasted about 30 minutes and melted in about as much time, but it was worth it. The girls really didn't know what to think about it!

Now that I have my Christmas cards out I am finally getting in the Christmas spirit. We purchased our potted Christmas tree yesterday which we will replant in the spring. I have some gifts purchased, but am still a little behind. We hope all of our friends out there are having a great holiday season!

  10. I'm glad Lucie is not any worse. That is good news even tho it isn't what you want....yet. I love Hailey's pink coat and she and Addie are good nurses for their sister. I'm surprised Hailey doesn't mind being out in the snow because I absolutely hate it!

  11. Good to see the girls having so much fun!! Poor lil Lucie... at least her condition is under control now.. Hmm as for her medication, have you tried hiding it inside a piece of cheese? Huskee is REALLY good at sniffing out his medication and so far, cheese seems to help. What we do is feed him a few pieces of 'normal' cheese first to get his guard down, and then we sneak in the cheese with the pill in between! (LOL.. the things we do for our doggies..)

Awwww.. Hailey is such a sweet pup!! Can she get any sweeter than this?

  14. The Lucie pic right there at the end of that post is SOOOO good...she looks happy in that picture....you and I need a dog whisperer - I think Pete is getting dog Alzheimers - he can't seem to remember when he ate last...he gives me that look and starts barking.....for the life of me, I don't know what he wants......I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Miss Lucie - that she gets better real soon :)
