Hailey is so excited to show you our garden this week!
We continue to have lots of growth. The peppers are not doing so hot. Everything else is growing like crazy! I think we had a few aphids in our mint. They were the fuzzy ones, about 5-10. We killed them and doused the area in cinnamon, chili pepper and garlic. Organic is great and all but sometimes I wouldn't mind a thick dusting of poison :) Thinking about buying a bunch of ladybugs (1500 for about 10 bucks)
Ron built an awesome addition to allow our green beans sufficient space to climb. They were all winding around each other which works now but in the long run was a set up for disaster. Once the net was up they were unwound and re-wound through the netting.
Still just the single tomato :( but it's still doing well. Ate our first strawberry this week, little tart but we didn't want to leave it there too long and risk losing it.
The potato plants continue to surprise with their growth, the leaf lettuce won't grow and won't die...it's in lettuce limbo.
The cucumber beetles haven't returned so that's good and the garden reflects multiple stages, one where the beetles were attacking and post attack with post attack showing much healthier growth.

Our first purple green bean flower :)
Is you pack making sure no varmints get to your greens? :)
ReplyDeleteWe just tilled and planted a section of our 2500 sq. ft. garden...yours looks so much better!!

HMM there seems to be a lot of leaves but not much fruits & veges. I hope they will grow faster!
ReplyDeleteGreat job. We are going to be getting our plants in after Memorial Day. Mom says that means no more playing in the veggie gardens.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks just beautiful, Hailey! How fun will that be to chase 1500 ladybugs!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Maggie and Mitch
Nice patch :-)
ReplyDeleteThose fingers is getting greener and greener.
ReplyDeleteI can't get over how fast all of that has grown. I love how she is always at the garden helping out. So cute. :)
ReplyDeleteHey your humans are doing what my momma said she'd do after she bought that book about square foot gardening! Yeah she hasn't done the lasagna gardening either, but my daddy has a big veggie garden. Yours looks very yummy!
ReplyDeleteThat is coming along really well, it is a shame about the bugs. We had problems with growing cabbages in the allotment last year, they were covered in tiny white flies.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of getting ladybugs to help (I think they are what we call ladybirds?) That seems a lot to get in one go, they would look impressive all together, I like ladybirds. :)
Like M & M said Hailey would love chasing them too....BOL
Keep the updates coming, I may be late keeping up but I do love seeing how it is all coming on. :)
We were thinking about your garden the other day and were wondering how it was going. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Sam
Around here, anything that pokes its way through the wire fence is fair game for doggies.
