Well, that was a crazy day!

Lucie had her follow up appointment with her oncologist, Dr. Cook at VSNT yesterday. That morning as I went out to feed our feral cat I noticed her limping. My husband had a look and confirmed she must have found trouble the night before and had an injury to a back leg. Since we can't just easily pick her up and place her in a crate, Gypsy had to wait until we got back. We finally got to meet her oncologist in person. Covid has made things so difficult. Dr. Cook told us that when Lucie first arrived that she was concerned that she wouldn't be able to bring her back. When she looks at her now, she is thrilled with the progress that she has made. The plan is to stay the course with her current meds. She has a few cards up her sleeve when the time comes but for now Lucie has a good chance at lots of more good days. We will go back in one month for a check up. I love that we have the support of VSNT to help us through this difficult time.

Once home, Ron set out to somehow catch Gypsy. She will not get in a regular trap any longer so we had to be creative. With the little help of a med to relax her, Ron was able to pick her up and get her in a crate. It was no easy feat and terribly nerve wracking with a very unhappy screaming and flailing cat but he did it! With Gypsy packed up he headed to the ER for a full workup. An exam revealed that she had been attacked with deep puncture wounds to her back leg. There were also some bites that had scabs from other fights.

Since she is feral she has to be knocked out to do anything to her. Here she is starting to come around and she does not look happy. They fixed her all up and said to keep her inside for 2 weeks. They also gave him liquid pain meds which he basically laughed out loud at the absurdity at that thought.

I have a plan on how to keep her in the house so she can heal. So far she's accepting our help.
