Camera Critters - Snuggle Time

It is unusual to catch all three girls snuggling. Typically it is Hailey and Addie together, but this time Lucie wanted in too!
-----------------------------------------
Lucie's in Trouble Follow-Up
All of a sudden Lucie has decided that anything on the counter is hers. Last night, she helped herself to pizza from the counter. She had to open the pizza box first that is. We went through this with Addie, but Lucie takes more risks than Addie did. Now, Addie did not join in when Lucie stole the bag of Hailey treats but she did not pass up a piece of pizza. I guess she just got tired of dieting and watching Maggie and Mitch eat pizza all the time! We are going to need to do a better job of placing items on the counter until we can get through to her that the counters are not hers.  We agree with Zeke's mom that these pups are getting smart! Now it is time to show them right from wrong which we can accomplish with Lucie by using a stern voice. It's the Great Pyrenees in her.

Lucie's in Trouble...

This bag contained Hailey treats. Lucie stole the bag from a counter and had a snack.

What should Lucie's punishment be?

The Biggest Loser - Pet Edition: Week Six

Welcome to the 6th installment of the Biggest Loser - Pet Edition!

Losing weight is hard to do, but we just know that the payoff is going to be great for all of our participants! All of the sacrificed treats will have been worth it once the weight is gone.

Tip of the Week
Find a fun event to attend with your pet!
Summer is upon us! If you have not already been to a pet event this year, check out your local newspaper and find one. This will give you and your pet a well deserved break from dieting. Even if it is for only one day!
If you live in the DFW area check out the Dog Days of Denton celebration on May 29th and 30th!

The celebration features fun events both Friday night and Saturday, with some activities and contests featured on Saturday only. Attendees can take in live music, “dancing with the dogs” performances by T.C. Cappel, and demos and tips from professional dog trainer Melissa Heeter at the Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue exhibit. The Glamfur photos, arts/crafts booths, pet care information and adoptions, the “Heinz 57” contests, festival foods and more will also be featured on both Friday night and Saturday.

We will be attending. We purchased a beautiful new harness and matching leash for Hailey made by a volunteer for DROH. Doesn't she looks adorable in it!

Remembering Memorial Day

We would like to take a moment to remember those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
One gift, above all others
God gives to us to treasure
One that knows no time, no place
And one gold cannot measure

The precious, poignant tender gift
Of Memory, that will keep
On dear ones ever in our hearts
Although God gives them sleep it brings back long remembered things.

A song, a word, a smile
And the world's a better place because
We had them for awhile!
I took this picture of the wall many years ago on a trip to Washington while in grade school.

Camera Critters - Getting to know Hailey

I love to run and play!

My tail is bent.

I now weigh 6.5 lbs.

I love treats and the big dogs food!

I claimed a pillow from the couch as my bed.

I scream even if someone comes close to stepping on me.

I truly believe that I am a big dog!

A Note from Mona and the Mommy!

Mona's Mommy asked us to post a few pictures from the Arthritis Walk until she gets her computer back.
Look how cute Mona looks!!!

Can you find Mona in this picture?
The Arthritis Walk was a great success! DROH had the largest team there to help raise money and awareness! Mona was able to participate because she walked with one of the other members. At first she wasn't so happy about leaving the Mommy behind but she perked up and enjoyed herself. The Mommy stayed behind which turned out to be a good thing. After everything was over, the Mommy fell. She didn't do any permanent damage but she is sore today. If you could send some healing doggie vibes to her, Mona would really appreciate it.

A little while ago Mona's Mommy had posted about a pup named Bradley. He had been adopted and then fell from a second story balcony. Bradley was returned as damaged goods with a neck injury to DROH.
This brave boy walked the entire 3 miles!! Mona and the Mommy are very proud of him. Be on the lookout for more pictures from the walk from Mona and the Mommy!

Tip of the Week

Help your dog lose weight: Eliminate table food and doggy bags

It’s hard to look into the pleading eyes of a canine and not be tempted to give him a nibble of table food. But those little nibbles add up to significant calories which can pack unhealthy pounds onto your pet. The high fat content of some table food can also increase your dog’s risk of pancreatitis which can be fatal. If you must give your dog a human food treat, give him a bite of fresh fruit. Ask your vet what fruits you can give your overweight pet. Certain fruits such as grapes can be toxic to canines.
